BcalcOS takes a deliberately simple approach to disk partitioning. When you select a disk for installation, the installer creates the BcalcOS partition layout automatically.
Partition Layout
The selected physical disk is erased and divided into four partitions:
(1) EFI / Boot: used to store the files needed to start BcalcOS
(2) Root: contains the BcalcOS operating system and installed system software
(3) Swap: used as swap space by the operating system. Automatically encrypted.
(4) Home: personal files & user data. You can choose to encrypt during the installation.
Partition Sizes
You do not need to manually calculate partition sizes. The installer determines the sizes automatically based on the available disk space.
This avoids requiring new users to understand partition tables, mount points, filesystem sizes, and other details before they can install the operating system.
Important: The entire physical disk selected for installation will be erased. Back up any data you want to keep before continuing.
